returning from a pleasure trip to York on Sunday, members of the National
Hospital Services Reserve gave first aid to an injured motorcyclist near
Tadcaster and took him to the Castleford and Normanton District Hospital

A
crowd, estimated at nearly 2,000, was enthralled at the Pontefract
Barracks yesterday week, by the band and drums of the Coldstream Guards
beating the ‘Retreat’.

fantastic sight - a four foot wall of mud and water swirling in all
directions" was how Wakefield Road, Pontefract, was described by an

After
a fortnight reciprocal visit, in which they have been guests of members
of the Pontefract Area Youth Committee, a mixed Westphalian sports party
of young people left Wakefield for London on Sunday

Traditional Yuletide
For the first time for some years, Yuletide
in local districts produced a traditional picture. Snow fell in
Yorkshire on Christmas Eve and reached the Pontefract and Castleford
area late on Christmas Day
