GROWING UP IN GROVETOWN
ADDED 6 MARCH 2006
I
hear stories from my father-in-law, Jim Asquith, about growing up in
Grove Town, but have seen no mention of this area in the Digest
magazine. I would love to see any photographs if others have them and
also hear their stories of how they also felt you could leave your doors
unlocked and the strong bond between families.
Jim's
wife, Catherine (nee Rose) was a Tanshelf girl, and both have lived for
the last 60 years in happy wedded bliss in Chequerfield, in the same
house which they took over from being a new build.
I
love to hear them both tell stories about when Chequerfield was fields -
the area known as Peases Field has always been of interest to me as I am
sure that when I first moved to Pontefract in 1967, there was still a
house on it. I would pass that way going to Willow Park Juniors.
