PONTEFRACT WAR MEMORIAL

I was down at my local, the Robin Hood, at the bottom end of town, when someone commented on a painting of the war memorial where the roundabout is now and where it had moved. I said to my mates I was sure it wasn’t moved to its present location straight away, it was first moved to the roundabout outside the hospital near the Bluebell pub. Before long the whole pub where arguing about where it was moved. Some said it was put in the valley gardens, some said the Castle, even Pontefract Park was mentioned, so if anyone could settle a friendly pub argument I would be very grateful and also stand to gain a fiver!
