CARLETON CHILDREN'S HOME
PONTEFRACT, 1950s

ADDED 07 JULY 2006

Day trip to the seaside in the early 1950s

During the early 1950's my late Aunt, Winifred Butler, was a carer at the Carleton children's home in Pontefract. She is the lady depicted in the two photographs on this page.

My Aunt never had a family of her own but was wonderful with children and was very fond of the ones she cared for in the home.

The photographs have obviously been taken on a day trip to the seaside and don't they look like they are having a happy day out!

I wonder if anyone recognises themselves or any of the other young boys depicted. It would be great if they would contact the Digest to tell us about their time at the children's home and to hear if they remember my lovely Aunt Winifred.
