Pontefract Steam in the Snow

A Wakefield - Goole local passenger train enters the old Tanshelf Station hauled by an Ivatt Class 2 2-6-0 locomotive sometime during the winter of 1955-56. The six coach formation of the train suggests that it is the 9.45am Saturday train to Goole which detached three of its coaches at Knottingley to comprise a Saturday's only Knottingley - Wakefield train later in the morning. The remaining three coaches would work forward to Goole. Peter Cookson.
