PONTEFRACT QUIZ
It hasn't yet received a lot of interest but I'm sure
that our new Pontefract quiz will get some of you hooked before too
long. I have just finished compiling another ten questions this evening,
bringing the total number currently available to 35. There's still
a long way to go because I am looking at making several hundred
available over the coming weeks and I'm optimistic that this can be
achieved. I have increased the time allowed for you to complete the quiz
from three minutes to four minutes because most of the answers I have
received so far appear to have run out of time. You need help - and I
give it to you!
At the moment I am swinging backwards and forwards
between the Pontefract and Knottingley sites as I try to upgrade the
Knottingley site to the same standard as this one. On the outside
neither site might not look anything special but the improvements within
the coding of the pages is what it's all about and it has been a big
improvement. There are some enhancements to be added soon but more of
that at a later date.
It took me in excess of two weeks to upgrade the
entire Pontefract website and worryingly the Knottingley site is 300%
bigger so I have a real task on my hands. One good thing is that I get
to read all those articles I had long-since forgotten about and some of
the material has been on there for almost eight years so I do have a
valid excuse for my memory lapse.
It's incredible to think that I've been doing this
for eight years now and still enjoy it so much. I don't think I have
ever had any other interest that has captivated me for so long and
believe me I have had a lot of interests over the years. It got to one
point where I was constantly being asked what I was doing now! People
were talking about me? Well that's probably the point when I decided I
had to find something that would hold my interest for more than a couple
of weeks and possibly the start of all this.
Upgrading both websites has revealed just how much
information we have collected over the years and whilst it's all down to
the people who submit articles and stories for publication in the first
place it's still been an extremely successful and worthwhile venture on
my part and one I have thoroughly enjoyed.
Now if I can tempt you all into playing the quizzes
regularly it would give me something else to concentrate on.
